Joining Forces: The Power of "And"
My Common Sense Rebel debut is part of a pivot
On Sunday, I published my first article as a contributor to Common Sense Rebel founded by Ethan Faulkner. Joining his rapidly growing publication is an opportunity with one of the most innovative young minds in America. His The System Switch and companion articles completely changed my view of our country’s framework—and they came from a 30-year-old who doesn’t have a law degree. I’m hoping to provide a complementary voice to his unique insight.
Since November, I’d been focused on leveraging Fort Worth’s unique opportunity to lead the nation in breaking at least half of the system that keeps us trapped—the post-Citizen’s United campaign finance world. Citizen’s United, horrid as it is, is a lazy excuse for accepting this. Citizens still have power, and so do states. The Supreme Court gave us a roadmap that no one’s bothered to follow—that path through that map is coming soon.
For much of last year, I spent my time in arguments with everyone from elected Republican friends to local friends. I won’t call it a waste, but it’s time to move beyond, lay out a course, and see who’s on board to do something about it. Some local Fort Worth activism paused that zealous pursuit, which led me back to basics—and to writing my first article for Ethan’s publication—The Power of “And.” The local relationships and the partnerships with Ethan, his crew, and others such as United Uprising should be important parts of that.
If this realignment resonates, stay tuned here for more—and read the full “And” piece on Common Sense Rebel. I’ll be publishing more about ways to address campaign finance issues, foreign influence, and at least one other issue as rapidly as possible on CLEAR Rule of Law.
In the meantime, The Power of “And" is up on Common Sense Rebel. Below is a preview of a social media series that complements the concepts in the article—but doesn’t replace them.
“Consistently prioritizing principle over partisanship [disrupts] the team mindset trap.
For example, when the question is exposing and prosecuting child trafficking, the answer is just yes. The same goes for fraud.
The only teams in fraud are the co-conspirators versus the victims. We far outnumber the conspirators. Harnessing the power of “and” enables holding systems and politicians accountable—regardless of their chosen jersey.”
